At The Children’s Place, we ARE doing it better!!!
Tonight, a proud group of four and five year olds will march onto the stage in front of their beaming teachers, family and friends. They will bravely stand before all of you to sing a few songs, to smile for several dozen pictures, but most importantly, to accept what they have been working so hard to achieve this past year, their Junior Kindergarten Diplomas from The Children’s Place.
I have had the honour to help organize and speak at this event on several occasions over the years and can say without a doubt that the work put into the graduation ceremony by the teachers and the children is truly spectacular. However, it is just a glimpse of all of the hard work and dedication to learning that they put forth throughout the entire year.
This is simply a matter of my own opinion, but might I be so bold to say, at The Children’s Place, we really are doing it better!!! I truly believe that our Junior Kindergarten program is second to none.
From September through June, our qualified teachers run a seamless Full Day JK program that follows the Ontario Kindergarten Curriculum used by the Ministry of Education.
Different from the School system, we currently maintain a low staff to child ratio of 1:8 both indoors and outdoors that allows for more supervision and time for individual and small group assistance and assessment. We offer before and after school hours as a part of our programs with nutritional snacks and lunch. In addition, quality care that continues through the Summer months, all which are done on site without having to relocate your children.
As you may have noticed, each of our four locations offers rich and age appropriate outdoor play space. On beautiful days, one can often see the Junior Kindergarten class using the outdoors as an extension to the classroom, engaged in circle time, exploring nature and practicing their gross motor skills, the learning possibilities are endless!
And best of all, tonight, along with their Diplomas, the families will be presented with a portfolio- A history of your child’s year and their progress of learning! A project that our teachers and the children have worked so hard on all year that they are able to share and look back on for many more!
Congratulations Parents, Teachers and JK Graduates, you did it!!!! Now it’s time to celebrate!!!
